Bruce W. Grewell

Bruce W. Grewell, Chief Executive Officer of Lawgic, LLC, is an attorney and CPA as well as an entrepreneur. Mr. Grewell obtained a Juris Doctorate, top third of his class, from the University of Maryland.  All of Mr. Grewell’s licenses are currently dormant.

Mr. Grewell was the co-founder of the American Society of Home Inspectors in 1974 and served on their board of directors in 2007. With his knowledge of home inspections he formed the Certified Home Inspection Corporation and within two years it became the “Truth-In-Housing” buyer’s protection company nationwide on behalf of the National Association of Realtors. After selling the Certified Home Inspection Corporation to Coldwell Banker, Mr. Grewell became the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American Home Shield.  He was an integral part of AHS’s initial public offering and AHS remains the largest home warranty company in the country today.

Mr. Grewell worked as a financial consultant before creating a property syndication company, Development Equity Corporation. The company sold a number of Section 8 offerings through AG Edwards, Shearson, E.F. Hutton, Ticor, Legg Mason, along with several private investors.

In 1983 Mr. Grewell turned his interest to the computing world and published a white paper on the future of personal computers. IBM executives read the paper and funded a $10M journey to accumulate a nationwide low-cost chain of PC dealers dedicated to delivering large IBM clients hardware at warehouse pricing. Within four years Mr. Grewell had grown the retail business to 25 stores and the business was ready to go public, however the IPO failed due to the 1987 stock market crash.

After moving to Florida in 1992 Mr. Grewell formed Text Retrieval Systems, Inc. Through his own experience he realized a need for a research tool to help property owners remain compliant with the Code of Federal Regulations.  Although the company’s initial focus was real estate he quickly discovered the demand for a similar tool in the Human Resources market and Text Retrieval Systems was born.  TRS became the exclusive vendor of HR research tools for the Society for Human Resource Management and had a long-term contract with AIG to provide HR Comply to each of their small and mid-sized insured businesses.  Text Retrieval Systems was sold to Ceridian Corporation in 2002 and the tool is still heavily used in the HR market.

Mr. Grewell remained on the Ceridian team as an acquisition specialist but left within the year in to purchase Lawgic.   After spending many years trying to find the best product, the “golden nugget”, he believes that Lawgic is that product.
