John Arthur Jones

John Arthur Jones, a partner with Holland & Knight, emphasizes Trusts and Estates in his practice. His extensive knowledge of fiduciary administration, as well as his experience in many diverse areas of the law, keeps him in great demand, not only by lawyers within the firm, but also by clients and other attorneys who have become familiar with him and his practice through the years. He has extensive probate experience. Mr. Jones also serves as general counsel for clients with significant closely held business and commercial interests.

Mr. Jones is a member of The Florida Bar and the Hillsborough County and American Bar Associations. He has authored chapters in a number of treatises published by The Florida Bar and has spoken at numerous seminars. Since 1975, he has served as Chairman of the Probate and Guardianship Forms Committee and continues to revise the forms on an annual basis to keep them in compliance with Florida law. He has also served as Chairman of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, as well as Director of the Probate and Trust Law Division of that Section. He is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, an Academician in the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law, and a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He is Board Certified in Wills, Trusts, and Estates by the Florida Bar. In 1985, he was awarded the "Robert C. Scott Memorial Award" by the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar for past service to the Bar and the Section. He has an "av" rating from Martindale-Hubbell, Inc., and is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, and in The Best Lawyers in America.

From 1969 to 1981, Mr. Jones lectured on the Uniform Commercial Code at the Florida School of Banking. In 1980, he was Special Counsel to the Commerce Committee of the Florida House of Representatives for the redrafting of the Florida Banking Code. He also taught courses for the Florida Bankers Association.

Mr. Jones was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1949 after receiving an LL.B. degree with honors from the University of Florida, replaced by a J.D. degree with honors in 1967.
