April 2011 Update

Updated Product Features

New Amended and Restated Joint Revocable Trust and “Amendment to Joint Revocable Trust Added

Based on customer requests, two new documents have been added to the ‘Trusts’ menu:  an Amended and Restated Joint Revocable Trust as well as an Amendment to a Joint Revocable Trust.  As a result, the editors also decided to rename and reorder the answer choices at Question 3 (trusts) for better readability.   Question 3.

Option to Create Estate Planning Client Questionnaires

You may now draft estate planning questionnaires in Word or WordPerfect for married, unmarried, domestic partner clients directly from the program by selecting ‘Estate planning questionnaires’ on the ‘Letters’ menu.  Previously the questionnaires were only available as standalone Word or WordPerfect documents located in the ‘Docs’ folder in the ‘Lawgic’ directory although a Rich Text Format (RTF) version is still available in the ‘Docs’ folder for customers who do not use Word or WordPerfect.  Note for Word users:  once in Word a macro will present 4 questions (firm name, printed or electronic version, citizen status, type of questionnaire) in order to create the document.  Question 8 and New Questions 9 and 10.

Include Section Name to ‘Add Custom Section?’ Question Names to Clarify Searches

Based on a customer suggestion, added the name of the section to the question name for the ‘Add Custom Section?’ questions to assist when using the Search function on the Lawgic menu.  For example, the Reserved Rights custom question will now read: “Reserved Rights: Add Custom Section?” which will appear in the Navigator, at the top of the screen at that question and in the Search box when you search for ‘add custom’ or ‘custom.’  Questions 160, 179, 195, 204, 214, 232, 236, 361, 433, 466, 530, 588, 635, 653, 849, 872, 906, 979, 996, 1059.

Children Reference in “Family” provision for Joint Inter Vivos Revocable Trust Clarified

In order to clarify children in a situation where there are children of husband, wife and both, and based on a customer comment, the editors have replaced the underlined word "our" in the following phrase: “References to ‘our children’ mean our children named above…” with “References to ‘our children’ mean all of <Husband Name>'s and <Wife Name>'s children named above…” in the ‘Family’ provision in the ‘Identification’ article.  Question 101.
