You might want to create a template consisting of only a few answers, such as a custom provision. This template can then be used in conjunction with other templates. See Loading a Template into the Current Answer file in the following topic: 2 Ways to Use Templates.
Step 1: At the Select Title/File dialog box, select Files to select the answer file you want to use as the basis for your Template. (Skip this step if that answer file is already open.) Step 2: Create a flag file with all questions you want to include in your Template as follows: a. Using the Navigator, click on a question whose answer you want to include. b. Click on the Flag icon in the lower left corner of the question window to flag the answer. Repeat Steps 2a and 2b until you've flagged all answers that you want to include in your Template. Important: If you are flagging answers in a REPEAT question be sure to also flag the REPEAT Control question as well as any threshold question, if there is one. For example, in the estate-planning products, if you want to create a template out of one custom provision, click on the ‘Custom Provisions’ section on the Navigator and be sure to flag the following questions:
c. Select Save Flags on the Flags menu and name and save your flag file. Step 3: Select Select Title/File on the File menu to open the Select Title/File dialog box, select your title and click New. Step 4: Select Open Flags on the Flags menu and select the Flag file you saved in Step 2c. Step 5: Load the answers you want to include in your Template from your existing answer file: a. Select Load Answers/Notes on the Answers menu. b. Select your title and click OK. c. Select your existing answer file and uncheck the box marked Load ALL answers/notes. d. The Open Which Answers/Notes dialog box will automatically pop up. Click OK to load only the flagged answers and notes. e. Click OK again (to complete the answer loading). Step 6: Select Save as Template on the File menu and name and save your Template. Then, enter a description for your template in the Description box. (When subsequently selecting a template to open at the Select Title/File screen, click the Description button and you or your colleagues can read this description to determine whether this is the right template to open.) Step 7 (optional): It is recommended that you mark your template ‘Read-only’ to avoid overwriting it in the future. To do this open Windows Explorer (or My Computer). Browse to the folder that corresponds to the title that you own. All title folders are located in the ‘Lawgic’ folder. For instance, the Florida Wills & Trusts folder is “fl_wt” and is located in: C:\Program Files\Lawgic\fl_wt. All templates have a .xmp file extension. To mark a template Read-only, highlight the file, right-mouse click and select Properties. Click the Read-only box and click OK. |
